Question

PS editing all layers ERROR

I have been using PS since 2015. Customarily, you work on the layer selected. This is the entire bases of the editor. This week all layers are getting edits. I'm four days behind, because of this issue.

Not only does the program fail at its primary function, crashes are happening daily. I do not wish to troubleshoot a subscription program. I'm getting really tired of companies pushing out low quality software, while expect the end user to correct their mistakes. I will delete it and reinstall. Outside of receiving an update for this bug, I'm not interested in repairing your programs. I pay you. You do not pay me for tech support.

I am sure this will fall on deaf ears. Here is critical information should someone, ACTUALLY from Adobe, find this post:

Unfortunately if you want to use Photoshop you need to deal with Adobe bugs. It a way Life is with Adobe software.  Adobe releases way too many bugs in Photoshop.  You need to have a process in place to deals with Adobe developed applications.  Perhaps I should not write that for the only Adobe application I use is Photoshop.  I don't use Lightroom and only or rare occasions do I use Adobe Bridge.   So all my opinions here are about a single Adobe application Photoshop.   Photoshop is 30 years old and a very powerful application it is more than an Image Editor more a tool for the Professionals.

IMO Photoshop is not an application suited for the general world population.  You should only use Photoshop if you truly have a need for many of the features it has or you have a passion to create museum quality images.  There are many Image Editors and Painting application  normally educated human can use to enhances their Digital image and create their art to their satisfaction and needs. They cost less, are easier to use and do not have huge learning curve like Photoshop has.

Just to be able to use Photoshop well at any time requites users to have a procedure in  place to be able to deal with the frequent Adobe updates and new bugs.   You need to have more than one version of Photoshop installed. I would suggest at least two stable versions that you can get you work done in.   If one is the Current Photoshop Auto Update should not be enabled.  Use your second Activation on a test machine where you can test the latest and greatest from Adobe  safely out of harms way. There can be compatibility issues between Photoshop version as well as bugs. No version of Photoshop is bug free.  However,  the Bug that Adobe does not seem to care to fix are not in ares that ever user uses.  I'm sure that many users get the work done without any issues. For they know where the bug their work are and work around them or all the work is done features the work well.

If you are using  Photoshop through its UI and something does work like you wanted you undo and do it a different way. You might not even think you were bitten by a bug that Photoshop works differently than you thought it would.  What kill your work are Photoshop crashing and automated processes that fail.  So you build a Photoshop environment you know you can use to get your work done in using Stable Photoshop versions and working automated processes.   You only change that environment with updates you have testes out of harms way.

I do not know how you have used Photoshop since 2015 and have not built your safe Photoshop environment yet.

»Unfortunately if you want to use Photoshop you need to deal with Adobe bugs.«

But unfortunately not everything that people may call Photoshop bugs are in fact Photoshop bugs; for many people Photoshop may just be the only application they use that makes the demands on OS, hardware, drivers, … that reveal their shortcomings.

And then there are also malfunctions that may be caused by file corruption – the issues resolved by the classical reset-preferenecs-approach … unfortunate malfunctions no doubt but not actually real »bugs«.

In any case the original poster’s wish that subscripton programs should not need trouble-shooting seems nonsensical considering that the whole »ecosystem« of the specific computer is out of (in this case) Adobe’s control and the individual user, the OS providers, the providers of the various drivers, the hardware, … can all introduce new factors that may cause new problems.

»Outside of receiving an update for this bug, I'm not interested in repairing your programs. I pay you.«

No, you don’t.

This is a user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.

»I do not wish to troubleshoot a subscription program«

It is up to you to keep yout tools in working order so you may want to correct your attitude.

Please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for quicker answers") and try to provide a more detailed description of the issue/s, possibly with screenshots to illustrate.

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved is usually a good starting point for general trouble-shooting:
