PS Text Tool Won't Let Me Edit Text

I am running PS 24.6.0 on a Mac (Monterey 12.6.7).  I have a project that incluceds text and graphics, and find I need to reformat the text.  Every time I click on the text I want to edit the "Lorem Ipsum" layer pops up and I am unable to do anything with my text.  I have search the discussions here, and not found anything helpful for my problem.

 

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi @Redhorse89 those are not text layers, they've been rendered as image layers. Text layers show a "T" icon on the layer thumbnail.

    You can shut off lorem ipsum in Preferences > Type  Uncheck "Fill new type layers with placeholder text."
