PSD file issues using iCloud

I've searched the forum and have not had any luck finding an answer. When opening an older .psd file (created probably 18 months ago), I'm getting an error message that it is not a valid Photoshop document. Attached are screenshots - the file information identifies the document as a Photoshop file. However in the "kind" column in Finder, it's showing the document as a ZIP file, and Photoshop is reading a .icloud extension that isn't evident in the file information. I'm really at a loss. Any suggestions about where to start fixing this?

    What do you have set here in the Finder > Preferences... dialog:

    Try dragging it to your local disk.

    That extension is not visible in either the file information or the finder screen, so there is nowhere to remove it. It only appears in the error message I get from Photoshop.

    Somehow .icloud got added as an extension. Remove it and Photoshop should be able to open it.
