Question

Quick export as PNG-8 suddenly aliased?

For years I have been using Quick export as PNG-8 with alpha transparency, but all of a sudden I am noticing my quick exported images with jagged, aliased edges. Did this come with an update? Was a setting changed that I am not aware of? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

We're sorry about the trouble experienced while trying to export documents in PNG format in Photoshop.

We're here to help. Could you please share the version of Photoshop (Help > About Photoshop) and the version of the operating system on your computer? At what zoom level are you viewing the file? What are the export settings that you are using? Are you using raster or vector images?

Did you try any troubleshooting steps?

Can you please check this similar discussion on our forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/how-do-i-fix-jagged-edges-in-exported-png-or-tiff-files/td-p/12615156

Let us know how it works.

Thanks.

Hi Ranjisha, thanks for replying.

The outcome is the same regardless of raster or vector source images.

Photoshop 23.2.2

Windows 11 21H2

Export Settings

An example in Photoshop (x is raster, o is vector)

Exported with jagged edges (lack of alpha) using Quick export as PNG-8:

In the past, Quick export as PNG-8 would maintain the alpha layer (the exported image would look just like the first image, only with 8 bit color depth), but as of recent that is no longer the case.

Thanks.
