Quick Select in Photoshop CC 2017 is sloppy

Automated masking in photoshop has gone down hill tremendously since CC 2015. When using quick select on identical images in both CC 2015 and CC 2017, 2015 is able to select to a much higher level of accuracy. The same is true of 'refine edge' in 2015' vs 'select and mask' in 2017. Are other people experiencing these changes for the worse?

I have not noticed a difference in quick select.

Refine edge is different. Some find it worse - personally I've just found it works differently and took some getting used to initially. However now I use it a lot.

The old Refine edge is still available in the current version. With a selection made go to the Select menu  - then hold the Shift Key whilst clicking on Select and Mask in that menu.
