Recovered pdf wont function in Photoshop.

Photoshop crashed while working on a photo. I now have the recovered pdf back in Photoshop and used  (Google and I ran PSD Repair).All my adjustment seem to work except for clone stamp tool and dodge and burn. The clone sample shows inside the tool , but will not paint from selected area. Dodge and burn does nothing. Is this file total gone?  I can start again.....Just curious now. Thanks.
