Question

Reordering Layers for aligning Photoshop CC

I load 6 images of characters (eg A B C D E)

I increase the canvas by 500% in width

Create a white layer on the bottom

I want the result to be A C E D B

I manually reorder layers

I Aligned Right the B imager and layer

I select all images, not the white layer

When I do a distribution it goes back to the original order?

Any ideas?

I have developed a solution.

  • Load Images into document
  • Manually sort images into desired order ( reverse order )
  • Created action that:
    • Hide all layers
    • Start with first layer
      • make visible
      • duplicate layer to new document
      • go to next layer
      • duplicate layer to new document
      • loop to last layer
    •  go to new document
    • Increase canvas size by 500% width ( this is for 6 images)
    • Add layer at bottom and fill with white
    • Select last image and fill layer
    • Right Align
    • Select all layers (not fill layer)
    • Distribute

I manually reorder layers

When you manually reorder the layers, are you doing it:

  • on the canvas
  • in the Layers panel
  • both?

(you didn't say)

I am doing it on the layer panel. Just select and drag. I even reordered before creating the bottom layer , the layer are all transparent

I wonder if Bridge would help?  You can drag to sort the images, and then use Batch rename to name alphabetically in the new order.
