Hello to all Adobe followers! I am Suzie' in the uk i am after some advice about a which software to use to repair my family old black photos. I am dyslexic so i am looking to not advance my skills with modern methods in designer photography! I am just looking for a satisfaction of my collection of old family past pictures which were left to me by late mom, but sadly are badly damaged! 😢  I have one two other basic software but don't feel they do the job adequately! I was retired off in 2003 due to ill-health and now this year in retirement with my hubby. Its is a past time that i love but unfortunately, due to not knowing anyone personally to help me resolve my dilema. I have come to this website for your kind advice and support.

Regards Suzie in uk

If your use will only be occasional, Photoshop Elements may suit you better. It is sold as a one off purchase rather than a the subscription basis of Photoshop CC. Elements is not as powerful as the full Photoshop CC but some functionality is easier to use, reflecting the different market of the two versions.

Make sure you are comparing like with like when comparing prices.

.

Photoshop Elements is a one off payment of £86.56 in the UK. That buys you the software. There are no further costs unless you decide to update in the future.

Photoshop CC Photography plan is a subscription of £9.98 / month and requires sign up to 12 month periods (it is an annual plan paid monthly). Updates are included in the subscription.

@sue27715072imls  – Hi Suzie,

Check out the subscription options here:

https://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop/compare-plans.html

If you take advantage of the 7-day free trial and wish to cancel, do so before the end of the trial and make sure that you understand the terms and conditions and any cancellation fees for a given trial or monthly or annual subscription.

Once you have installed Photoshop, you can use traditional restoration techniques:

And or download the optional Neural filter for Photo Restoration. You can also colourise as well with a different neural filter:

Hi,

The UK link to Photoshop Elements was in my earlier post and I've added it here for clarity https://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-elements.html

Photoshop Elements is licensed on a perpetual basis. In other words you buy it and you use it until you decide to update it. Note - that is not the same as being guaranteed to last forever, on any future hardware or operating system. Sometimes operating system upgrades can render perpetual software ineffective, although Windows appears to be less prone to that than Mac operating systems. If you ever reach that point you can choose whether to purchase teh latest version available at that time (currently Adobe do an upgrade price).

I use Photoshop CC as do others who volunteer in this particular forum, however there is a forum specifically for Photoshop Elements if you want to discuss your aims with users of Photoshop Elements. They should be able to confirm whether it can meet your needs. https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-elements/ct-p/ct-photoshop-elements
