Question

Resizing this image from 72ppi to 300ppi will work?

Hi, everyone

I need help about a project I'm working on. Maybe someone can help me .  I need to print an image on paper (size 60x20cm), but I am not sure if my artwork has enough quality/dimension to fit the printing size I want.

I am not good at resizing, resampling. The specs are on the image attached. Will my project be good for what I mentioned? If is not, is it possible to change those specs to 300ppi and print to fit 60x20cm size?

Thank you!

You have an image that is 3554 pixels wide.

To find out how wide you can print it, divide 3554 with 300, and you get 11.85 inches, which converted to cm is 30. (multiply by 2.54)

This means that you can print the image 30 cm wide at 300 ppi.

It also means that you can print the image 60 cm wide at 150 ppi.

To be able to print the image 60 cm wide at 300 ppi, you need to start out with an image that's 7087 pixels on the long side.

If you use the image size dialog to change the ppi to 300 with Resample checked, Photoshop will invent the missing pixels, but the result may not be acceptable, since 3/4 of the pixels in the image will have to be invented.

With resample not checked that is all that will change. Tne Images pixels remain the same so will the file size. All that changes the the pixels size that the image will be printed with.  The print will be much smaller when 300DPI size pixels are use.  The image size will not change on displays.

The image will be more 30cm x 17cm at 300DPI 60cm by 20cm  is a 3:1 aspect ratio. to do the size print you would need to crop off some pixel. That a very wide aspect ratio.  You would change the composition quite a bit with a crop like that.

Your Print resolution would be more like 150DPI...
