Question

return of "droplet couldn't communicate with photoshop"

After updating windows 10 to 1903, when I try to export from lightroom using a droplet I get this error. My previous workaround using Jeffery Friedl's run any command plugin ALSO does not work.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop, have tried droplets created with admin privileges, have tried creating new droplets. Have tried moving files to the closer to the root directory so that pathnames are not as long. Have also tried dropping files on a droplet, that doesn't work either.

This bug has been a pain in my arse for 10 years. 3 different systems have experienced it. I have spent days and weeks of my life trying and failing to get adobe to take the slightest bit of notice.

I have just had the same problem, previous version of Photoshop 2019 worked perfectly with my droplets. Then it updated and NONE of my droplets work anymore. I just get the COULDN'T COMMUNICATE WITH PHOTOSHOP error message. So I tried removing the new 2020 app and using the old 2019 app. Presto ... sort of. SOME of the droplets work, but others do not. A real head scratcher. So why dont you just make new droplets again I hear some of you ask? Well ... I didnt create the very elaborate process, previous designer did and I'll be scratching my head for a while trying to figure out how it was done.

It would be nice if the droplets created in older versions of Photoshop would work in updated apps ... too much to ask?

If anyone else has run into this, I can't say for sure that this fixed it, but I'm 99% sure:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/event-viewer-erro-esent-455-since-update-1903/624a2548-06e5-47f4-bb99-76d6412895a0

Check your application event viewer for the error mentioned in this fix, if you have that error and this, then there's a good chance

Whether Adobe personnel can replicate the problem depends in part on the quality of information you provided them with.

If they can replicate it and succeed in locating the source of the problem I suspect that the programmers/developpers would prefer to rectify the issue but the necessary resource allocation may be denied …

Could you post the link to your report here, so that others with the same problem might find it more easily on this Forum to add their votes?
