Reverse engineer merged layers

I'm wanting to recreate an image(or certain aspects of that image) that I made a while back, but I can't remember how I created certain layers of that image. I also merged many of the layers in this image.

Is there a way to reverse engineer merged layers of the image I created?

Thanks

Once layers are flattened or merged they are gone. There is an undo whilst the file is still open but once closed that is lost.
