Question

Rotating multiple layers around a point

I'm trying to create a fan booklet image (like Pantone reference guides) but can't see how to move the Transform crosshair to the same place for multiple layers i.e...

I have each page of the booklet on its own layer

I can select the top layer and move the Transform crosshair to the corner and manually rotate the cover page so it pivots around where I moved the crosshair to.

I now want page 2 (3,4,5, etc) to pivot around the same point but seem to need to manually move the crosshair for each layer.

I've tried selecting all layers, I've tried selecting the layer group and I've tried linking layers, but every time I move the crosshair it only moves the crosshair on the top layer - what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

I would think if you want each layer to rotate about different point.  Like one of their corner points  you would need to do a separate rotate for each layer. If all layer are to be rotated about a common point you should be able to link the layer and do a single rotate. If all the page layers are the same size and have the same perspective a script should be able the set the same rotation point for each page using the layer's bounds and setting a point relative their bounds.  For a fan each page's rotation angle must be changed by some delta amount

It sounds like you might be misuderstanding the Reference Point Location – it is not saved after a transformation.

The »simplest« method would probably be making sure that all the Smart Objects’ centers are the intended center-point of the rotation right away.
