Question

Running old CS5 software on newer OS, it works on some files. what do they have in common?

CS5 is not supposed to work with Mojave, but I've been able to get it to open files part of the time.  Some documents will always open, and others will always crash. I'm just curious  what the non-crash files might have in common with each other.  It's not the file sizes.

What are the file types?

Does it make a difference if you right click on the file and finder and click Open With Photoshop CS5 as opposed to using File>Open in Photoshop CS5?

What about using Bridge CS5 to open those same files into Photoshop CS5?

Is your Photoshop CS5 updated to 12.0.4?

From within Photoshop CS5 go to Help>System Info and read the top line for the Photoshop Version.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm running 12.0.64. I just tried the right-click, but the "crash" file will not open either way.  I don't have bridge on this computer.    If I knew what the difference was, I might be able to convert some. The both have several layers in them too.  Curious of what the common traits they have.
