"Save" in Photoshop brings up "Save As" dialog and prompts to Replace existing file - everytime.

Since we've switched from using Lightroom to Bridge+ACR, our workflow has gotten unusually complicated.  The issue in particular relates to editing JPG files.

We use Bridge to organize our library of client images.  Performing cropping, white-balance, and exposure adjustments is quickiest in ACR.  As such, we have ACR preferences configured to open all JPGs in ACR.

This works perfectly fine.  I'll double-click on a JPG in Bridge, and that image immediately pops open in ACR.  I can also open multiple JPGs in ACR, and make adjustments for the whole group.

However, the issue arises when I need to open those files in Photoshop to make use of Neural Filters or Liquify.  As such, I'll double-click a JPG in Bridge, which then opens in ACR.  In ACR, I click "Open" (lower right corner), and the image then opens in Photoshop.

The problem is when I attempt to save the image.  When I hit File->Save, Photoshop spawns the "Save As" dialog instead.  For some reason, it's refusing to simply save the open file.

Thus, in "Save As" dialog, I have to click "Save", which then prompts me to replace the exising file, and furthermore brings-up the JPG save dialog, which wants me to choose the save quality of the JPG.

This "Saving" portion is unnecessarly laborious.

Can anyone advise me why this is happening?  Clicking "Save" in Photoshop should simply save the file.  I'm just baffled as to why Photoshop is insisting on bringing-up the "Save As" dialog instead.

In Lightroom, I was able to edit files in Photoshop, hit Save, and close the file.  This was quick and efficient.

IF anyone has any pointers, I would greatly appreciate it.  We're using the latest Mac Studio with the latest OSX and latest Adobe Cloud versions of Bridge, ACR and Photoshop.
