Question

Saving CR3 files to JPEG as default instead of photoshop file

My photoshop is not showing JPEG as the default when I select "Save as" and I cannot figure out how to make it the default.  In addition to that, the open file doesn't convert like it used to, it stays as a CR3, thus adding an additional step in closing out an image becaue it will then ask if I want to save the file...which I just did.

AND my batch editing is now taking over 40 minutes for 50 images, when yesterday it was taking less than 5 minutes.  HELP please!!

What version of photoshop and operating system are you using?

I believe the issue is that your CR3 files are 16 bits/channel when opened from acr, so saving as a jpeg requires saving as a copy because jpegs don't support 16 bits/channel or layers. That is also the reason the file retains the cr3 extension in the document tab and asks to be saved again when closing. The saved jpegs on your disk should have the .jpg extention however.

You can set acr to open the cr3 files as 8 bits/channel and see if that makes a difference.

Go to Photoshop>Preferences>Cmera Raw>Workflow and set the Depth to 8 Bits/Channel
