Question

Scaling Layer Styles Not Working

Hi folks

Using Photoshop CC.

I have an image using multiple live shape layers with multiple Layer Styles.

I want to upscale those images and scale the layer styles (drop shadow, pattern effect etc.) with them.

I know there's a check box with Image Size (top right) but this has no effect.

I know you can use Layer/Layer Style/Scale Effects and apart from the fact that I have too many layers to do this practically, even when I have tried, it has no effect.

I have seen suggestions to convert your image to a smart object, but as I want to preserve the image quality (no blurring) this is not a suitable work around.

I have done this before in previous versions of PS and the top two solutions above seem to work for others on various forums and blogs but not for me! Am I missing something or is this possibly a bug?

Thanks for any help.

The "scale styles" in the image size menu does work but ...  it will only scale to the limit you can set in the layer styles box.

So for example if you have an image 1000 x1000px with a polygon that has a 50px stroke size and 50 px drop shadow distance and 50 px drop shadow size

If you use image size to scale to 10000 x 10000 px (i.e 10 times bigger) - the drop shadow distance becomes 500 px but the stroke and drop shadow sizes only reach 250 as that is the maximum size allowed in the stroke/drop shadow size entry box.

    Hope that makes sense

    Makes sense!

    I can see now.

I was upscaling 400%, but at 150% it preserves the effects as intended!

    Thank you Dave
