Photoshop did never recognise the scanner. It was always the task taken over by a twain plug-in. The scanning process was done by the scanning software.
There are limitations making that Twain is no more supported in Ps 64bits.
I use the scanner program to transfer the data to Photoshop, instead of using Photoshop to call the scanner program.
