Scratch Disk Help - External SSD

Hey Adobe Community,

I just got Creative Cloud and Photoshop on my Macbook Pro 2017 (Mojave OS). My mac is pretty full to the brim with my music production software and files etc. which lead me to the problem of not having enough scratch disk space on the internal SSD before I've even been able to open the PS program for the first time. I ordered a ScanDisk 500GB "Extreme SSD" external SSD to hopefully use as my scratch disk, but the PS program doesn't seem to recognize it or find it when I got to select my scratch disk upon startup of PS (holding option-command).

Do I need to reformat my Scandisk SSD to something specific, or what do you think could be the issue here? ( My Scandisk SSD Specs & info )

Thanks for any help!

Hello, IIRC, Photoshop will not accept a removable disk as a scratch disk.

WHAT? In every previous forum, people were given instrucitons on how to show their external drives. I just got a 1T Seagate SSD in today ($159) following recommendations and it is not being seen by Photoshop, and NOW you say a removable disk is not allowed? I am working with huge PS files and my Mac's scratch disk is full, each and every day. What can I do about that? I am dead in the water without more room.

Sorry to be so snippy, but I am near the point of throwing it out the window. I have a MacBook Pro 2017 - see attached file- so it isn't my machine. What can I do if an external SSD drive is not allowed?

Yes, I reformatted to MacOS extended (journaled), GUID parcels, and I cleared Photoshop's preferences. Twice. Turned on and off a couple of times. As proof of my issue, the link in an answer in the above sends people to directions on how to use an external drive for a scratch disk, screen shots and all.
