Scratch disks & External Hard drives

Does anyone else hate that we can't use an external hard drive to store scratch disks. Like how stupid. Adobe you suck. I hate you. I cant get any work done when my scratch disks are full every 2 seconds yet I can't connect an external hard drive to store the never ending scratch disks........ really adobe.....do better.

It's always been possible to use external storage as scratch disks; that’s why Photoshop has a setting for it. If it isn’t working for you, then that’s something we need to troubleshoot. It’s probably a solvable problem.

 

Is the problem that you can’t select your external hard drive in the list of volumes in the Scratch Disks preference? And is this in Windows or macOS? What format does the external hard drive use?
