Scratch Disks on MacBook Air

I know this is a frequently discussed topic but I have a Macbook air from a few years ago and I don't think I can ever get it to have more than 5gb free of harddrive space. I always get the Scratch Disks error when I try to run Photoshop. Is there any workaround someone can suggest for me? Thanks.

I would suggest you get a new Solid State Drive for Photoshop.

5 GB is not enough space and scratch Disk error is bound to happen.

I've had the same error as well.

Look in your user account. That's where all the junk accumulates. If you find old Bridge or Premiere Pro preview caches, delete them. That can give you something like 20 - 50 GB right there.

You need to delete a BUNCH of files or move them to an external drive. I recommend 20-30GB bare minimum disk space just for running macOS and a bit more for Photoshop. A lot of those machines are limited in RAM so they will use even more scratch disk.

Plugin an external drive or find a way to get more space. 5GB is not enough for normal operation still less heavy apps

Ok, I was able to free up a gigabyte so I could launch the program. From what I can tell you cannot add an external harddrive as your scratch disk location in preferences. I also tried by hitting command and option while photoshop is starting, but also did not see this option.
