Seamless Batch Saving back to Lightroom workflow(Lightroom --> Photoshop --> Lightroom)

Hey fellow creatives,

I process thousands of files at a time quite often, so automation is high on the scale of importance. I've been streamlining my workflow using scripts and actions for the past few years. I have most of the processes working except saving my files back to Lightroom.

Here's part of my process:

1. Lightroom basic framing and necessary white balancing for all files - upwards of 2000 files

2. Select and open/handoff about 40-50 files at a time(don't wanna overburden my resources) to Photoshop for batch running my actions and necessary edits.

3. Batch save all open files back into Lightroom for tracking, exporting and archiving (Ideal case)

The problem is #3. I've never suceeded in utilizing the seamless "handoff" back to Lightroom feature whenever I batch save(the link is ignored). I literally have to babysit all 50 files, saving them one at a time in order to handoff to Lightroom currently. It seems to me that if Photoshop/Lightroom retains the memory of the "handoff" from Lightroom for each of those files, there has to be a way to tell Photoshop/Lightroom that the current files being batch saved belong back in Lightroom.

I realize I could re-import the edited/photoshop files back into Lightroom once I'm done saving them(files reside in the same location), but that is another step I'd rather eliminate... because, you know, every second makes quite a difference when you're working with thousands of files lol

I wonder if anyone has discovered how to do this? Surely, I'm not the only one who deals with this much volume frequently. I figured I'd ask before spending weeks researching and developing scripts to accomplish this.

Thanks
