Question

searching for a file to open in photoshop freezes for minutes

Dear Adobe,

I am using an M2 MBP running Sonoma 14.1.1, using either Photoshop Beta 25.3.0 Or Photoshop 25.1.0 either seems to freeze for minutes if I go to open file, then search for a raw file by name. It is extremely frustrating to have workflow slow to this extend performing a simple task.

I find it equally frustrating that once I processed and resaved a raw file as say a jpg then decide to alter the colour the file opens with a suffix no matter what when all I want is to process settings, then run an action that will save the file as a jpg in the same folder and automatically overwrite the first file. If it is not is not possible to rework a file then run an action to scale and save that file overwriting a previous version, actions appear to be somewhat useless.

@marcusbastelphoto where are the files you are opening located and where are you searching local HD or ?

What suffix and how are you saving your jpg files from RAW?

I have 3 external drives attached to my M2 MacBook Pro, in photoshop I go to open, in the window I go to find and paste the filename, it then searches all attached volumes. the moment I click on a CR2 Raw file everything stops. I have upgraded from a 2015 MBP in April which never had the slightest lag. I keep updating the Mac OS and the Adobe software but so far the results are not great and the same problems persist.

What happens if you attempt to open from your local HD? Same delay?
