​hi i'm a newbie in photoshop

what does the icon means? i want to move only the selection. but

after making selection its moves all the picture not only the selection

    It means that the image layer is a smart object. Here is some explanation:

    Hi

    The icon means the layer is a smart object.

    Think of the smart object as a container which has within it another layer or layers. If you double click the icon you will see an additional document open with the file type psb. This document has the contents of your smart object with all its layers. These can be moved and changed. On closing and saving the smart object file, the main document will be updated.
