Selection Tools ALWAYS pastes amorphous shapes as rectangles!!!

What the #$@%&?!? Is this a weird prefernece I've accidently turned on with a keyboard shortcut? It has stopped me from working. I've used Photoshop for decades! Thanks.

Hi!

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing? It would be really helpful to see the document window and the Layers panel.

A little more info. I'm on a layer and I make a seletion with my lasso or magic wand. When I command/J to paste it to the above layer, it ends up as a square shape, not the shape I drew.

Check your Feather setting in the Tool Options bar.

You want it set the 0 (zero) before drawing out your selection.
