Question

semi-transparent "ghost"

Hey everyone,

Has anyone else experienced this weird issue in Photoshop? Lately, when I use the Clone Stamp tool, I'm getting a semi-transparent "ghost" of the sampled area that follows my cursor around, even when I'm not actively painting. It makes it almost impossible to use the tool accurately.

Here's what I've tried:

  • Reinstalling Photoshop
  • Resetting preferences
  • Testing different source images

Details:

  • Photoshop CC (2021)
  • Windows 10 (up-to-date)
  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open any image
    2. Select the Clone Stamp tool
    3. Alt-click to sample an area
    4. Move cursor without clicking – "ghost" image appears

Any ideas on what might be causing this or how to troubleshoot further? It's driving me a little crazy!

@Sean36009703kbl1 that is normal for the Clone Stamp tool. Open the Clone Source panel and uncheck "Show Overlay"
