I'm a user of Photoshop CC  and Lightroom Classic CC and my computers components are as follow:

Operating System:          Window 7 Utimate
CPU:                               Intel core 7i 4790K @ 4.00GHzMotherboard:                  ASUSTek Maximusa VII Hero
Graphics                       Intel HD Graphics 4600 (integrated in motherboard)

C Drive:                         465GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500g SCSI Disk Device

At the present time I can't do some of the features of Photoshop CC as:

  • 3D
  • Oil Paint
  • Render – Flame, Picture Frame, and Tree
  • Scrubby Zoom
  • Birds Eye View
  • Flick Panning
  • Smooth Brush Resizing

Would my computer improve if I purchase the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060?  I don't want to spent lots of money but that one is affordable.

Any comments and or recommendations are appreciated.

    HI

With the caveat that I don't use that exact card (I use a GTX1080) so I can't test it,  I don't see that there would be an issue.

Your Windows system needs to be 64 bit for 3D to enabled.

You may need to force Photoshop to use the Nvidia card as running two different GPUs, the Intel and the Nvidia, is known to cause issues (see sections 7 & 8 below).

    Hello Dave,

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I have Windows 7 64 bit, so that's not a problem. What I'm not sure is what do you mean by "force Photoshop"?

Do you mean to disable somehow the Intel card and ask photoshop to recognize only the Nvidia?

    Thanks, Regards from Sacramento,

    Jorge

If you look at sections 7 and 8 in the second link I posted. it describes how to to that.
