Question

Shape paths revert to previous state randomly

Hi, I have been encountering shape and path-related bugs in PS for a while now, and they have made my work extremely tedious. Attached is a screen recording of the issue happening as I duplicated a layer folder. The same thing has happened when I created a layer mask earlier; both occurences are attached as videos. Some shapes basically revert to a previous state without me tempering with them at all.

This issue happens in other occasions; such as when renaming/copying a layer (sometimes a layer different from the layer the bug happens on), when moving/modifying points and paths, or enlarging a shape using the transform tool (cmd+T).

It's somewhat difficult for me to get it on video because it happens randomly; sometimes I'll recreate a pattern to get it to happen again to record it, and it's magically fixed, only to happen again a few minutes later.

Please help...it's ruining my workflow.

System: Mac Mini (Intel, 2018)

OS: Catalina 10.15.7

PS Version: 22.5

Graphic Processor: off

I am reviving this out of despair. I am still experiencing this bug frequently. I don't know what to do, no one was able to help me, even after I transmitted a test file to Adobe for them to try. Now I am getting this path bug while doing completely unrelated operations such as setting a stroke or shape fill. Please view the attached video. The diamond shape changes when I click the stroke tool in the top bar.

More details:
- This happens both when grid snap is enabled and disabled.

- I need to hit ctrl+z several times for the path to revert to its previous state despite only clicking the stroke tool once.

- It does not occur if I deselect the path before clicking the stroke tool.

System: Same as in original post.
OS: Monterey 12.2.1

PS version: 22.5.6 (v.23 crashes on launch, I am unable to use it)

Graphic processor still off.

Please help, there has to be an answer.

Would it be possible to get a copy of the PSD you're seeing this with and a list of steps you're doing to which layers to trigger the issue?

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I cannot share PSDs as these are confidential work files.

If it helps, this doesn't happen just with this file. It happens with all files I work from.

Hi, I was able to capture it again in a different file.

You can see dragging the layers to copy them causes one of the three layers to revert back to a previous state (wider rectangle). It consistently has the same behavior everytime I drag and drop to copy the layers.
