Shift key won't constrain when using gradient tool

Hi there,

My shift key won't constrain a straight line when using the gradient tool to drag the colour across the  canvas.

Not using a wacom. Caps Lock not on (have seen these work in previous posts) I use the touchpad, not a mouse.

Free Legacy option turned on.

Windows user and using version CC23

Laptop is Microsoft Surface Pro

Many thanks for any insights

For some reason using the New Gradient Tool one has to press the Shift key after starting to draw out the Gradient, whereas other tools can be constrained either by pressing Shift before or after applying to tool.

Nothing like changing a well known functionality that's been embedded in Adobe products for GENERATIONS of  releases and not telling people. Or at least educate them with a popup on the new tool command. How frustrating

Hi, here's wondering if the new behavior shouldn't be classified as a bug. Consistency is important when we use so much muscle memory to operate.
