Sidebar Menu Buttons Disappearing in Photoshop

After updating to version 25.6, whenever I open a document in photoshop, I can see my usual sidebar menu, but then I get the automated generative AI pop up..and then the button images on my sidebar disappear. I can't figure out how to get them back. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, went back to version 25. That hasn't worked so far.

    p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
