Simple Click layer selection

Is it just me, or is the layer selection operation in the 24.4.1 update just annoying [cursing removed] ?! Within the document screen, I understand many may enjoy the simple "click to select" feature, but when  working with groups of layers, it chooses the whole group and not the layer as the last few versions have done. I know older versions acted this way, selecting the whole group, but I thought we had "moved on" from that, but here we are!! [cursing removed] ? Is it just me?? lol

Look in the options bar for the Move tool. Is Auto-Select set to Layer or Group? Change it to Layer if you like using Auto-Select.

Thanks Jane, I literally ran across another post that mentioned this a few minutes ago!! It's just dumbfounding to me why all these asinine little settings have to be redone everytime we get an update, and sometimes the menus seem to change to a point I think the developers are playing games seeing just how frustrating they can make this product!! SMDH.
Thanks again.

Hi @rowdyj81 , "Layer" is the default. To make sure Adobe hadn't changed it, I just tested:

  • change the options for the Move tool to Group
  • reset the Move tool: right-click in the options bar (not Tools panel) and Reset tool
  • it returns to the default of Layer

Tool options are sticky across time and across documents until they are changed again or reset. I like to reset all tools from time to time.
