Slice tool, can't export into layers

Question

In Photoshop, I sliced each shape (screenshot shows each shape slice is numbered (which is fine if those become the layer names).

I need to convert each slice to a layer, without renaming all 50 shapes. The "File; Export; Save for web" option does not work for me (the optimized viewing area is always empty)

How can I get my slices into individual layers so I can export? Thanks!

@defaultrxl2eyilu4m2 – If you read the help guide, you will find that the Slice tool was never intended for this purpose, it is designed to slice on export from Save for Web.

Luckily, @jazz-y created a script to create layers from slices:
