Smart Object problem. (related to an update ? I don't know )

Hi, since a few days me and my colleague have a problem with smart objects on our psd files.

A layer in "multiply" mode in a smart object no longer works in the final document. We used to do the same work every week and since this week, strangely enough, we can't use layer effects on smart object anymore. I've been trying to understand, or find out why...

So I'm appealing to the community because I'm lost.

Here's a little video showing the problem.

Same thing on my MacBook Pro as on my colleague's IMac.
Problem updating, I don't know ... but until a week ago everything was working normally.
Thank you for your help.

And the group you get from converting the Smart Object to Layers has the Blend Mode »Normal«; only the Blend Mode »Pass Through« allows for the different Layers contained in a Group to »maintain« their individual Blend Modes in relation to the background outside of the Group.

Thanks indeed the old files were on a transparent background. I was so focused on the layer effect. I missed the obvious.
Thanks again.

You seem to be mistaken: One Smart Object instance cannot have two Blend Modes.

And your video clearly shows that in the one case the shadow is largely transparent and in the other case its is apparently completely opaque.

So either work with two instances or change the newer shadow layer to black on transparent instead of black on white.
