Smart Objects

Hi

I have a template of smart objects for creating remarketing banner ads and have copied this template file many times for many clients and have always had the files keep the changes made for each file as if it was a new file. I have been working on a few clients this week and suddenly all three copies of the file are showing my smart objects for all the files have updated to whatever the latest client I was working on is. Is this new,that smart objects now work across multiple PSD files? I have never had this happen before and have lost hours of work.

    You probably used Linked Smart Objects instead of Embedded ones, possibly even from the Library.

    Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels to illustrate the issue?

    Hi no only I have access, I do not remember doing that which is why I was wondering if some inadvertent key command could have done it. Not impossible that I clicked something when I thought I was in a different window, I have too many things going all at once all the time. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this going forward.

    Do you utilise the Library Panel frequently?

    There is a »View Deleted Items« option in the fly-out menu that might yield something if you deleted graphics there, but it seems unlikely to help in this case I’m afraid.

    it does seem that way and I looked at files from weeks ago and I have the same issue. Is there anyway to unlink? Here is a link to the file. I have been doing this for over a year and never had this happen until this week?

    Layer > Smart Objects > Embed Linked

    But if the linked file has been updated that will probably result in updating, then embedding, so that would not help you with the file-states you did oversave.
