Why do smart objects, when double clicked, always open with guides on the image? Is there a way to turn this off?

Correct answer D Fosse

Because it had active guides when the smart object was created.

Double-click to open it, delete the guides, and "Save".

The Script Events Manager can be set to automatically run an action or script to hide guides when editing a smart object.

Good call! I tried this out with two files. One had guides and the other did not. Then I converted my layers in both files to smart objects. When I double clicked, the S.O. that had the guides it displayed them. The one without, didn't. Thank you for the insight!

It's only an island if you look at it from the water.
