Smart Objects not updating or saving properly 23.2

I'm using 23.2 and 16" mbp m1 max, 32gb ram with OS X 12.3 Beta (21E5212f)

When I create smart objects and double click to edit them, saving appears to work but the object is not updated in the main canvas. My edits are not visible, if I save both documents(main and smart object) and close them, re-opening shows my edits in the smart object were lost

I've had this happen too many times to mention now, I'm saving documents to the cloud. Why is this happening? it make using smart objects really really difficult.
