Something for the Weekend - Part 203 - Genie Filter

Hi,

Thanks to all who took part in our previous 'Washed Up' challenge.

This week we have something a little different. Most of you will be familiar with camera lens filters, pieces of glass fitted over camera lenses to correct colour or to introduce effects. Imagine if we could have a 'Genie Filter' that could grant you any image change or effect you wanted. This is your chance to show what your image would look like outside and through such a filter.

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the image, (it is transparent) hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.

Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

I wonder if it still works?

It was a Hasselblad - being left on the moon for over 50 years won't hurt it 🙂

Colourful. I'm still trying to work out what is in/on the hand 🙂

Got my Adobe Llama last week, so I decided to give it a shot, or a look

It certainly brings a closer view, albeit a tinted one. Nicely done Valdair.

I've switched off my Genie Filter for the sake of common decency
( so now you'll never know )

Best regards, Euan.

I'd like to see what's in the food I might eat that doesn't come in a package.

I like it Myra. Mind you I am not sure I'd want to know in one or two of the places I've eaten! 🙂

Lol. We've been on a whole-food, plant-based diet for a while, so we're trying to avoid meat and dairy. We're also trying to watch sodium--which gets added to so many foods. It'd be helpful to know what's in our food.

I think it's the first time I am participating in this !

This one is the "vector VS photo" filter. It lets you see the reality behind an illustration 🙂

(this is quite literal here, no hidden meaning!)

From a stock photo and an illustration done in Illustrator (and intended to be screenprinted, but that bit never came to be)

Welcome to SFTW Imaginerie. Wouldn't such a filter would be great for forensics. What Photo was this illustration based on? 🙂

To be honest, it would be good for reverse forensic as the original illustration was all in my head (bizarrely I am better at imagining than at "referencing") so in that case, it took me a while to find a real photo that matches more or less with the illustration.
