Something for the weekend - Part 68 - End of the pier

Back in challenge number 48 we had the East pier at Whitby, this time we have the West pier on a somewhat misty day.

If the pier could talk, it could surely tell some tales of what it has seen over the 100s of years since it has been here. It has been rebuilt several times, notably in 1632, 1814 and extended between 1908 and 1914.

So for this weekend's challenge, can you show us one of the piers secrets?

Anything goes as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to have a go - whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.

There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

When posting back your edited images please use jpeg and downsize to 1200px on the long side.

To download the image below in jpeg format with ICC color profile (sRGB) and without the forum scaling artefacts , right click and then use Save Image As /Save Target As (or similar depending on your browser).

Have fun

Dave

The more I looked at this image, a space ship was revealed.

Hi

Rista - An Octopus that likes smarties, happy image

Jane - Another imaginative image from your garnddaughter, wish her a happy birthday from us. I love the tardis at the end of the pier.

Jacob who are those twins on the pier?

Barb - I hope the water does look like that in the summer. Unfortunately, in the North Sea that is unlikely!

Trevor - All sorts going on in that one. Do I know that man in the moon

Dean - Light the blue touch paper and retire...!

Great images and imagination this weekend.

One of the secrets of the WestEast pier at Whitby is that when the warm winds blow in, it temporarily becomes a tropical paradise.

From my granddaughter, age 12:

”There is a ghost ship and the ghosts are walking the pier. Be sure to zoom in on the ship.”

jane-e, she is getting very good at placing figures realistically.  Love her imagination.

Hi

Jacob - back to pre-history - the pier must have been around longert than I thought!

Rista - A Nordic adventure! I had to look up Ultima Thule to see what/where it was. I just learnt something !

Dean - He should only worry if he gets caught

Michael - A brilliant idea - I like it. It takes us back to SFTW Part 35 (The tube)

Graham - Those cellphone masts get everywhere!. It looks like the crab is about to wake the dog.

Joan - Aliens indeed - straight from the red planet by the look of the sky

Thanks all - keep them coming , the weekend is young!

Not many people know but in 1923 the tunnel surrounding the pier was removed.
