Spinning/Busy cursor when using brush or eraser tool.

Hi, so I had photoshop Cs6 which a "friend" downloaded for me....anyway I was getting those naughty warnings where it said I had an illegal copy of photoshop, I ignored them and then annoying things started happening with my cursor. I figured Adobe had done something to cause a lag.

Long story short...I am now a subscriber and downloaded a proper version of Photoshop CC but the same issues are happening. I don't use photoshop for anything other than light photo adjustments but I use the brush tool and the eraser tool. However, when I try to use either tools, as soon as I am clicking and dragging, I get the busy/spinning cursor and can't properly see where I am brushing/erasing. It still works through the busy/spinning cursor though.

Can anyone suggest what this is?

Correct answer D Fosse

This is a known Mojave issue, in case that applies.

This box is already checked. What else might help. This is driving me crazy!

Besides the busy cursor, I'm also sometimes getting marks after using the erase toggle switch on my wacom pen. PLEASE HELP!!

I found a solution that worked for me.   Photoshop CC2019, Mac OS Mojave.   Under the preferences, Performance, Advanced Graphic Processor Settings. Change Drawing Mode to Basic.   Haven't had a problem with any tool since I made the change.

Following the instructions in the known issue with Mojave totally fixed it, thank you D Fosse!

I've realised it does it with every tool I use. A millisecond after clicking and dragging over an image I get the busy cursor.

Ok so I have checked for malware and there's nothing, I've uninstalled and it's still doing it

What are your complete computer specs?

Have you tried updating your mouse driver?

Is there a program running in the background eating up resources?

You may need to run a malware scan.

I have a Macbook pro mid-2012 model with 16gb ram. It only just started happening yesterday. I am running Adobe Bridge concurrently but that hadn't posed any problem up until now. I also would normally have mail and safari open but even when I have everything but photoshop closed it still does it. I don't know how I would go about updating my trackpad driver...is that a thing I need to do on a MacBook?  As you can tell I am fairly clueless haha.
