Spot Healing Brush Issue

Since the last update i've been faced with an issue where when using the spot healing brush it acts like a regular brush leaving the darkened line (the same one seen when guiding where you are using the tool) but it reamins frozen like this and does not perform the tools action. Yes i've restarted Photoshop, yes i've reset my tools countless times, the only thing that works is when I'm allowed to use the tool once upon openning a project, saving the single edit closing the program, and repeating this process until done with the tool. This is incredibly frustrating for a paid product.
