spot healing brush stroke stuck on screen until i click away from selected layer

The spot healing brush tool leaves a stroke on screen until i click off in space. It performs its funciton but its really annoying to the work flow that it doesnt disappear right away. I have checked all pen pressure setting and they are off, I have reset the tool a dozen times, I tried looking at all the other fourm post about this probelm and trouble shooting them and they dont work for me. It seems to be a frequent problem though in the newer versions. 

I've shut it down and opened it back up as well to no luck. Im using an old mac book pro with photoshop 2021.
