Stamp Tool Requires Clicking Not Painting Thicker

In 2019 Photoshop when i use the stamp tool i have to click to get it darker. Previously if I repainted an area with the mouse clicked it would get darker. Do I need to turn something on? I do not want to click each time to make more of my stamp coming out.

Can you show a screen shot with your settings? It sounds like you want a high opacity and a low flow rate. If that isn't working for you you might want to reset the tool's preferences, even though you just installed. Preferences can get messed up during an installation.

Do you have both flow and opacity set to 100? Flow will make it darker as you hold down the mouse button, so if you want that, use a value less that 100. Opacity will only put down that amount with a single click.

I just installed it. Its not the opacity or flow rate. It has to do with if i press the mouse button only a "one time" amount will come out no matter what i roll over... until i click again then the next increment will come out fixed until i let go and click again... some setting is messed up somewhere. I need it to be different.
