Question

Standard keyboard shortcuts gone from PhotoShop

Since the last CC update basic preset shortcuts (Open, New, Save, Copy, Paste) have disappeared from PhotoShop.  I have added shortcuts via Edit > Keyboard shortcuts but they do not appear.

As a clean install initiated the problem, and the work Adobe did last call exceeds my expertise, I think I'll commit the time I'm going to waste and my available frustration tolerance to trying to initiate another service chat with Adobe.

Thanks for your interest, really appreciate it that someone is interested to help.

Hi

Thanks for our help.  I managed an Adobe service call, they spent 15 minutes changing things via a screenshare and I observed preferences files being amended, then I saw shortcuts reappear and the case was declared closed.

However, I later discovered only some of the basic shortcuts were back.

I have Open New and Close but not Save, Save As or Export.

Also immediately after this session I returned to an InDesign task to discover 90% of the words in an ad I was working on underlined as misspelled. Turns out the spell check dictionary has changed itself to Czech and cannot be changed (changes can be made but on save reverts to Czech).  As I was working in InDesign immediately before the service call, I think I would have noticed a wall of red.

Mac OS10.14.1 on a 2018 iMac Quad core i7 4.2GHz and 24GB RAM using latest CC update.

Thanks

Is any of this relevant?

Known issues - Running Photoshop CC on macOS 10.14 Mojave

I'm sorry I am not a Mac user, and this is probably going to be OS related, but I'd look at user permissions.

This should tell you where the shortcuts file is located.  Check it is writable, and maybe look at its last saved date.  I'm guessing here because I can only think in Windows terms.

Photoshop CS6 preference file functions, names, locations

The same applies to the custom dictionary.   It seems to me that a clean reinstall after running the cleaner tool to remove any files that are causing problems, should sort things out.  Providing it is not a Mojave incompatibility issue.

Good luck

If the Preference reset does not fix it, we need to know what operating system you are using?

Also, what workspace are you using?  Workspaces like Motion and 3D have their own shortcuts.  In fact this is a highly useful feature, as we can borrow shortcuts and store them with custom workspaces, ans switch back to Essentials when we need the defaults.

So you can select Essentials, if not already so set, and reset it which should take you back to defaults.  (Essentials is hard wired).

Please, first of all, try to reset preferences:
