Straighten photo reducing image size?

I have an image that is not exactly straight, and since the 2019 update, every time I try to straighten an image, it reduces the file size significantly. How do I straighten/transform an image without making it so much smaller? Image went from 63M to 40K

Wow - that is not good

Are you using the crop tool? In which case make sure Width Height and resolution do not have values set in the options bar , if they do, hit the clear button to remove them.

I'm using a raw image and then I save as .jpg after it's adjusted, but haven't saved yet because I want the full size image.

Hi Dave,

The image pixel size is going from 3840px by 5760px to 96px by 144px.

Thanks

Incidentally - jpeg is a great file format for sending to the web or sending via email etc but it is destructive and gets worse with repeated openings. I would never keep a master copy in the jpeg format.   always save the master (with any layers) as a PSD or TIFF and then export a copy as a jpeg.

Hi

Can you supply some more information.

Are you talking about file size on disk or image pixel size?

If on disk, what file type was your original and what file type and settings did you use to save your changed version?
