You have the word selected. If you right click on it, there's a menu item, "Show alternates for selection", which does just that. It brings up that box with the alternate fonts. Some Fonts come with alternates, others don't.

Here I had to choose that menu item.

If you did not pick that, I'm wondering if there is an auto turn on for it.

Under Photoshop Preferences > Type, there is "Enable Type Layer Glyph Alternates" checked on. Maybe you can try unchecking it and restarting Photoshop.

thank you so much

It was showing up everytime I typed, I didnt have to right-click.

It must've auto turned that on when I did an update.

So much much better now!

I'm glad that worked, and while I was on the page, I unchecked "Placeholder text" as well. That's the "Lorem Ipsum" text that fills in when you activate the Type Tool.

What on earth are you asking? Your screenshot doesn't show a dropdown.

Go to  Preferences > Type    then uncheck "Enable Type layer glyph alternatives"

Edit - Sorry @gener7  I've just seen you have replied correctly with that preference while I was reading.
