stroke changing size when object isn't PHOTOSHOP

So I can't find any relevant answer, but when I make adjustments to the layer STYLE the stroke on my text keeps being made bigger. I'm not resizing ANY objects so I don't see why this keeps happening. a 2 point stroke to 22 on text is ridiculous!

Could you please post meaningful screenshot including the pertinent Panels etc. to illustrate what you are talking about? 

What »object« that »isn’t PHOTOSHOP« are you referring to for example?
