Surface Artist - Hooking up 22HD Cintiq Question

Hi there everyone!

I made the switch from Mac -> Surface Book a couple weeks ago. I'm running into a little (specific) issue with Photoshop I was hoping I could get some help on!

Though I like to draw on the go, I have a workstation at home with a 22HD Cintiq. When I hook up my Cintiq, I can get windows to scale most things- Chrome, Explorer, etc, based on UI scaling settings in the control panel. Since the Book is 3000x2000 and the 22HD is 1920x1080 this is absolutely imperative. However, Adobe photoshop does NOT scale. If I get it to work on one, it looks absolutely ridiculous on the other. Is there a workaround for this? Even if I could make two photoshop "buttons"- one to open it in scaled UI mode and one for normal, that would be super! I'm at a loss for what to do and was hoping some of you tech-savvy people could help a gal out.

Thanks so much!

Hi JJ,

I need to draw on the Cintiq display though. I switch between tools and I need everything on one screen... otherwise I could see that being a great fix!

If you set Photoshop cc UI scaling to 2x Photoshop well scale its UI on both displays.  If you set Photoshop US scaling to 100% 1X Photoshop will not scale its UI.  You can edit your images in floating windows on your Surface display and have Photoshop main window and Palette on your cintiq display.  The only Photoshop UI elements that will display small are the UI elements in the floating Image windows frames on your surface display.  Also any System Dialog use by Photoshop will not be scaled.  If the popup on the surface display you can move the dialog yo your cintiq display.

You may be able to map you Wacom pen to kist the cintiq display and use the Surfaced pen on the surface. Or you may bal able to map the Wacom pen to both displays. I have never use a cintiq.

The cintiq display does not have the required abounts of Pizels to handle Photoshop UI scales 2x.  Its 1920x1080 display becomes a 960x540 2x Display that does not meat PS 1024x768 requirement.

Hi JJ,

I understand that I can scale the UI, but the problem is I'll be switching between my Cintiq and my Surface Book  for drawing very frequently and I don't want to manually adjust the UI every time. Sometimes I sit at my desk at home but sometimes I take the surface with me and draw on the go. With other applications (chrome, explorer, etc) if I drag a window between my surface book screen (3000x2000) and my cintiq screen (1920x1080) most things will automatically resize. Photoshop does not automatically resize. Here is an example:

Photoshop 100% UI on my Cintiq:

Photoshop 100% UI on my Surface Book:

So I want to know if there's a way to make photoshop resize automatically.

These are some alternative ideas I have:
A button when photoshop pops up where I can choose Cintiq or Surface mode, and it remembers my UI options.

Two photoshop applications on my computer where I can click a version that will remember surface UI options and cintiq UI options.

Thanks so much for any additional feedback!
