Tab Request

I often work with a lot of tabs open in Photoshop and I find that it can be hard to see all of the documents open. I'd love the asbility to collapse the tabs to small size and have a preview thumbnail of the tab with an abbreviated version of the text. Much like Google Chrome tabs.

    Totally agree, the current tab system becomes a mess once you hit double digits. Until get a native fix, I’ve found that using the Window menu at the top to quickly toggle between files is the best way to stay sane. It’s not as visual as a thumbnail view but it definitely helps clear the clutter. Really hope this gets enough traction in the 'Ideas' section to get on the roadmap.

    I love this idea - A thumbnails-in-tabs feature would make working with 20+ open files so much easier. The current tab system definitely gets cluttered fast. As Jane mentioned, definitely make sure to repost this in the 'Ideas' section so the Adobe engineers actually see it and can add it to the backlog!

    I’m not sure where that is. Do you have a link?

    In the upper right of the Photoshop forum, click Create a Post, then:

    1. Request a Feature
    2. Describe the Feature > Next
    3. None of these match your idea > Continue
    4. Add Details > Submit

    Another option is to only open one, or a smaller quantity of sequential images at a time from a source folder (the script will keep track of all opened/unopened images until all have been processed).

    Perhaps one of the Scripting guys could create something that zooms all open documents to a thumbnail size, and then selects Tile All Vertically.  You’d need to reverse this, which would probably be problematic because it would not know the original zoom ratio for each document. If you were happy to have them consolidated back to Tabs at 100%, would that work?

    I do not want to see all of the photos at the same time. I just want to be able to see more or all of the tabs of my open documents in the top. A thumbnail would be helpful in the tabs becuase text room would be limited.

    @Nature Mike

    Excel workbooks can contain many worksheets and this is how Excel handles it:

    • One way is that there are arrows in the lower left corner that allow scrolling to see worksheets that are out of view.
    • A second way is that if you right-click that same area, you see a listing of every sheet in the workbook. Then you click on one to navigate to it.

    Is this the way that you would see it working in Photoshop or do you have another idea?

    You posted to discuss Discussions instead of Ideas, so the Adobe Photoshop team won’t be tracking this. Moderators can’t move posts.
