Tablet mode

Hello, I am using a Dell inspiron 15 2in1 but for some reason when I try to switch to tablet mode I can't select or use any tools. I can still use my touchscreen to exit the app and do other things so its not that my touchscreen isn't working. I'm trying to use the paint brush now and it just isn't working in tablet mode.
