Text bounding box not responding in Photoshop

Question

When I click on a text layer in Photoshop to either highlight the text or just have the cursor live, I see the bounding box as normal, but as of yesterday I can't grab any of the corner points to drag the text box out. The transform tool works, but obviously that's scaling the contents. Any ideas?

I've updated Ps and tried a Ps preference reset. No luck.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
