Question

text path editing

Does anyone else find editing text on a path super tedious? I'm trying to figure out if I just don't properly understand the controls, or if the direct selection tool is just finicky. I feel like it never makes my initial "text box" the length of the entire path, and I spend so much time running my cursor back and forth trying to get the icon that will let me stretch the text along the length of the path. Usually I flip the text over and under the path and slide it along the path like five times before I finally get the function I want to work... New to this tool though, so could just be me!!

When editing a text on a path you can just press ⌘ Command on Mac or Ctrl in PC to get the direct selection tool.

So you do not need to go back and forth to the toolbox. Then enlarge or recuce with the handles (and ⇧ shift key for proportionality)

my issue is just that I wish the finer controls were a bit more precise... like as far as I know, the only way to manipulate the length of the "text box" along the path, as well as were the text is placed along the path is with different cursors that photoshop offers you when hovering the direct selection tool over the text on the path. So often times, when trying to move where the text is on the path, I accidentally elongate or shorten (usually cutting off my text in a frustrating manner) a few times before I get the positioning right. Although, actually, in this moment I can seem to even get it to offer those cursors hovering my direct selection tool, so I suppose I shouldn't have complained xD

If you have further problems please post screenshots or screen recordings including the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, Properties, Character, …).

Illustrator may ultimately be a better choice for this.
